Today I attended the first special needs family expo held at a Chicago library. The expo was held at the Evanston Public Library and involved information booths from all of the major groups and organisations that provide services and support for children with special needs in the Evanston area. The expo was successful on many levels, it:
I suspect that this will be the first of many special needs family expos in Chicago.
- reinforced that the Evanston Library supports families of children with special needs in its community
- demonstrated that public libraries are an excellent source of information
- enabled the distribution of information in a neutral environment
- gave an opportunity for organisations that provide support and services to families of children with special needs to come together, to share and to network.
I suspect that this will be the first of many special needs family expos in Chicago.
