San Francisco Public Library
I recently met with Marti Goddard from the San Francisco Public Library. Marti was a fantastic source of information. It was a great opportunity to visit the San Francisco Public Library.
San Francisco Public Library was a wonderful library. The library is one of the few libraries in the US to house both the Library for the Blind and Print Disabled as well the Deaf Services Center.
Some of the many ways the library welcomes people with disabilities include:
Disability training for all library staff and security staff
Signage in regards to the following topics:
· Disability laws
· Therapy dogs
Kits at all information desks with a range of tools for use by people with disabilities, including:
Magnifiers, signature guides, braille rulers, pencil grips, large mouse, modified keyboards etc.
Sensory time is held at their Mission branch.
Laura Tarango is the Children's Services Manager at the Mission Branch. She will also be helping me with my research, which I greatly appreciate.
